To Whom It May Concern:

My husband Frank Sarlo (né Ferenc Schwartz) passed away December 28, 1993 at the age of 92. He was buried in Eden Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Frank was born March 3, 1901 in Tiszaszalka, a small village in Hungary. I was born August 10, 1907 in Beregszasz small town that was in Hungary, but is probably in Slovakia now. Frank and I married in 1952 in Budapest after I lost my first husband, Miklos Breuer, who disappeared in Russia during the war. We never knew what had happened to my first husband. The Nazi took Frank's wife and two children also. They were put in the gas chamber. After the war, Frank and I remarried and Frank helped me raise my fatherless children (George Sarlo currently of San Francisco and Agnes Sarlo Linhardt currently of Los Angeles)..

Frank lost two beautiful children: Laszlo Schwartz, seven years old and Aniko (Anne) Schwartz, three years old when they were taken away around1940. Both were born in Budapest. Little Aniko was Frank's life. Frank and I lost many people in our family because of the persecution of Jewish people in Hungary.

These are the only pictures of Frank's children that has survived. Since Frank passed away, I think it is important to give this picture to your museum. Frank could never look at this picture without crying. In spite of his horrible loss, Frank was a loving father and grandfather to my children and grandchildren.

I have dictated this letter to my grandson Paul Linhardt and asked him to mail you this letter. If there is anything further I can tell you, please contact me or my grandson.

Cecilia Sarlo
