SIMON Géza
Hebrew Name: Gerson[5]

- new! - Uncle Geza's Family Diary, 1901 - new! -

Grand patriarch of my family's genealogists, great Uncle Geza started recording the SIMON family history a 100 years ago at the turn of the last century.  His 20 page manuscript was handed down for 4 generations.

A definitive source of SIMON family genealogical information, the work is a poignant portrait of the times, a slice of life, an account of the tragedies of war and the conflict between the Hungarians & Romanians.

Thanks to a recent electronic transcription by Agnes Doffek and an translation by Tony Linhardt, this remarkable document is now available in both English and Hungarian.

BOSKE MOHOS on her Uncle Geza[8]

Uncle Geza was a good-looking man and a Don Juan - the girls loved him. He was in love with a girl who didn't have a dowry so he couldn't marry her. One night he jumped out of a second story window when a jealous husband came home. He was badly hurt and had several toes amputated. Due to the injury, he was discharged from the Hussar and became a Tobacco company director in Kolozsvar). After World War I, when Transylvania was given to the Romanians, he wanted to remain Hungarian so he moved to Hungary and became director of another tobacco company.[1]

On the wedding day as Geza was walking down the isle, he got a sever cramp in his leg which everyone took to be a bad omen. Aranka was a crazy women. When Geza later got remarried to Ella, Aranka stole a key from her son Zoltan, broke into his apartment and broke all the china.[1]
