* Note: The KANDEL family had other roots in the region.  Some KANDELs from Újfehértó were buried in neighboring Gesztered and many more lived in Gesztered or Bokony.  The 1828(?) census of neighboring Balkany lists a KANDEL family: Izsak (48), Simon (23), Simon (14), Edila (17), Katalin (11) and Rozalia (9).  The surname 'Katalin' (or 'Kato') is a repeating matriarchal name passed from grandmother to grandchild in the family.
